Melissa Massery, MA CCC-SLP; Speech Therapist/Owner
Melissa is a Ohio and Michigan state-licensed, board-certified speech language pathologist. She graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011 with a masters in communication disorders. Her passion is working with children with speech sound disorders. Over the past 10 years, she’s provided diagnostic and therapeutic services in several settings such as schools and medical facilities. She’s completed training in PROMPT and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), a specialized treatment technique for apraxia and motor speech disorders. She’s also completed training in remediating tongue thrusts and other similar difficulties using myofunctional therapy.
As a parent of a child with non-verbal Autism, she spent years in therapy waiting rooms with her 3 little kids, willing to do whatever her son needed. In the process, she burnt out as a mom and realized the importance of a parent’s role in a child’s therapeutic journey. These experiences led her to create Massery Speech Therapy where high-quality evidence-based therapy could be provided online without a burden to the overall family. She believes children learn best when they are having fun and when parents are given clear, easy to use tools to support their child’s learning.
