This is a question that many parents will ask themselves, their pediatricians and friends! A good place to start is to speak with your pediatrician, teacher or daycare provider with any concerns you have about your child’s communication/overall development. Communication milestones by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) can be found here for birth-5 years and here for K-5th Grade. All children develop differently and excel in different areas.
Is online therapy (teletherapy) right for my child?
Parents LOVE the convenience of online therapy! Attending therapy is as easy as clicking on a link! Your child plays fun, interactive games in our therapy sessions, just like we would face to face, while practicing our speech goals. Online therapy is best suited for children ages 4 and up with mild to moderate speech/language difficulties. Try it out and contact me for a free speech screening, where we will meet over video conferencing and your child can try out a speech game!
Why should I consider private practice therapy?
The number one benefit of private practice therapy is the freedom to evaluate and design treatment plans that are exactly what your child needs right now, rather than being dictated by what an insurance company will cover. Our therapy at Massery Speech Therapy is constantly being driven by evidenced based practice and I am continually increasing my knowledge by attending trainings that will directly benefit your child. Clear communication with families is a priority. If appropriate, I will provide home carryover activities to increase generalization of the speech skills your child is working so hard at!
Why don’t you accept insurance?
If you have ever dealt with an insurance company, you know how time consuming even one phone call can be! Instead, my focus is on devoting our time and resources to services that will help clients more directly, such as providing individualized treatment materials, technologically advanced assessments and designing your child’s care to be focused on their specific needs, rather than on what is '“covered”.
I DO accept cash, checks, credit cards, and health savings account cards (HSA) and can provide a SuperBill for possible out of network insurance coverage.
